its official that i am an ametuer at reefkeeping.i just spent the
most frantic couple hours of my life trying to acclimate and put these corals in my tank.i was freaking out.they kept falling and i would try to move them back and they would close up even more.
i think i got em where they need to be but the two best ones i know i touched them to much and im scared.i guess i just have to wait and see.i know they are freaked out.the only one that looks to be happy and opened up is the rock of zoo's besides the mushrooms and ricordea.the cup coral looks ok.for all i know they are all ok but this is my forst time with the corals.if it turns out ok i did alright and if it doesnt more reading.wow adrenaline.i will keep you guys posted.i tried to do everything by the book.dont get me wrong i think i did good.im just a little freaked out this being my first time.sorry for rambling.

Don't feel bad.
I bought my first yesterday- just two tiny mushrooms and a recordia. But everytime I picked one up to move it I felt as if I were manhandling them. I know I damaged one 'shroom, and probably others as well. To some degree it cannot be helped- just being very careful is the best you can do.

Those stupid shoulder length gloves didn't help me with my tactile senses at all!
But the saltwater causes my hands to itch!

i know EXACTLY what you mean by felling like you mishandle them even though i was extremely delicate.but every minute that goes by they look better.im just worried bout the hard guys.
its a weird thing i feel like a petco employee or something.you know how you go into petco and think man these guys could find
there shadow on a sunny day.i feel like the guy who cant find his shadow.but i will chalk it up as a huge learning experience.i will get some pics up as soon as i can.

I completely understand the feeling. I was nervous as a mother hen with my first corals. IME, they are tougher than people give them credit for. If the tank conditions are good, they can survive a lot.

Don't be too worried if some don't open for a few days. Some species pout longer than others.

all is good so far.they are alllooking better and better.
the power went out a while ago for bout half an hour.i was cursing like a sailor.scared the ship out of me.dave i am definately
coming to the april meeting.i love this. i cant wait to get new software for my digi cam or get a new cam.i got a crappy casio but lost the disk to it and cant find software on the net.
what if i want to move something? do i do it now or let the zenia feel at home first?

If you think it will be happier in the long term, I'd move it now. It will get mad again if you move it after it has settled in.

Xenia sticks down so fast, it's amazing. If you rubber band it to a surface, it should be stuck down within 24 hours. Leathers can take weeks.
