I won't be having surgery for at least 6 months, and then it will be a total joint replacement. In the meantime, business as usual! Let me know whatcha want!

It sounded like you got several opinions, so hopefully you have received some good advice. If you have the ability I highly recommend shopping surgeons. Research the actual joints...there have been a LOT of "recalls". How exactly you recall a joint is beyond me!! Since you have time might as well pick the best doc in the best hospital with the least number of infections etc. This is the future of healthcare.

... you to not be in pain for the next 6 months... not to have to be nervous about the replacement for the next 6 months...
As far as fish... hmmm.... everytime I save up money for the scarlett badis, you sell out. LOL So, I'm keeping that little savings for the next time you get them in. :)

Well I cant like, I like that you are still open for business, but I REALLY don't like that you are going to be hurting for the time being :( At least there is hope

thanks. I am not looking forward to continuing with the constant pain for 6 months, but the payoff of a total replacement will be worth it (i hope!!)

I wish you the best of luck on your surgery Rachel. I am so sorry that you'll still be in pain 24/7 for the next six months. Thank goodness for pain meds, huh? I feel for ya. I'll keep a look out to see what you order. Do you think you'll get anymore cardinals or neon tetras in? Take it easy and stay safe Rachel.

I probalby won't bring in cardinals or neons until the rams are gone and the rummynose are gone (they are in two of my largest qt tanks).

I know you prolly want it done and over with, so sorry to hear you will have the mental torment hanging over your head. Just hang in there! Stay busy and time will pass fast.
Good luck.

Rachel,
Does that mean you are ready to take down the discus tank and restock it with some of mine?

I hope the pain is manageable! :{ Hopefully, six months will fly by in no time. My mom had a double replacement and has been doing great-- I'm sure you'll do even better when the time comes!

I am really just relieved that a surgeon is finally willing to act on what I have been being told for 10 years. Its not fun being a young parent with aknee like this! I cannot wait to walk with my kids on the beach, take them sledding, etc etc etc!~

don't want to be nosey, and if you don't want to tell its ok, but how did you hurt your knee? sports or accident or genetic wear and tear?

From one who is also looking at a knee replacement...I can definatly empathize on your situation. I hope your surgery goes well and the next 6months are manageable!
As I am re-doing my "microfish" tank more Scarlet Badis and Chili Rasbora would be awesome :D

sports initially, then wear and tear compounded surgeries that were not successful leaving me with a knee that pretty much has no original tissues left intact.
I ordered both chillis and badis. :)

Good luck with the surgery! My grand father(I know you're much younger) had both knees replaced. Before the surgeries he could barely walk. A couple months after the last surgry he was tearing up the dance floor with my gram at their 50th anniversary party.
Just somthing to look forward to.

:) that is the hope! I am only 32, I know I will still have to be cautious and take it easy so I don't wear out my new knee too quickly, but it will be nice to have a lot of functions restored!
