Nice work Mark! To tell you the truth I really question Heiko's id. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the fish in the first pic is a Lago Tefe and not a Rio Tefe. Some of the others aren't as definitely identifiable to me, but amazing fish either way!

Yes Seth. Wild Tefe greens also called red-spotted greens.

Looking good! Where do u get your discus from? HAW? I know they have always had a decent selection from what I have heard.

Yeah, I got the original batch from Dan when he owned HAW. I'm trying to find some more but the drought in SA has really impacted collections.

LOL thanks MG. I collected about 95% of the MTS out of the tank this weekend for a friend with puffers... looks weird without all the snails everywhere.
I'll get a FTS this weekend.

Simply awesome! And yes, wilds are the best. We need to all work hard to keep the real discus bloodlines going. I'm sorry but the many hybrids are really lame in comparison, in my opinion. Viva Brazil!

I got them a couple years ago from a store in Houston, Tx. called Houston Aquarium Warehouse. Back then it was owned by Dan, also owner of GulfCoastDiscus. The store ownership has changed hands since then. I've been trying to find some more of the same caliber fish but I'm told that due to a drought in SA, collectors are having a hard time finding fish and getting them to the exporters.

Check out aquabid- a guy called snookin23 (I think it's 23) imports a lot of nice wilds. I got my heckels from him- really professional. Lots of really cool wild plecos too! It does seem that the selection is more sparse these days. But keep checking some really exceptional fish pass through him. At exceptionally good prices too.
Remember to take care with imported wilds- always quarantine and check for parasites- although that has not been the case in my experience- better safe than sorry.

I'd heard of snookin23 over at Simply. I may have to contact him if my local source can't come through for me.
Did you have your heckels shipped to you or did you pick them up?
I typically quarantine all fish, wild or domestic. This last group of discus wasn't necessary as Dan qurantined the whole tank for 30 days before he put a sales price on the tank.
