View Full Version : Rosey Barbs
I was thinking that when I get my new apartment and get a bigger tank I would like to keep Rosey Barbs. I hear that they are great at keeping algae down in planted tanks plus they seem quite nice to look at. However, I don't seem to be able to find any info on these guys. A quick google search brought up a bunch of dud links and varieites but no real info and as far as I can see there is no info on Aquaria Central.
Can anyone point me to a good learning spot? Thanks

A pair of rosey barbs were my "pioneer fish" in my first tank, and I eventually traded them in to the fish store because the female kept growing and growing and growing. She was also quite annoying to the other fish because she was so outgoing and well, pushy.
They are certainly very hardy and like most barbs, will eat that hair algae off plants. Also, like most barbs, they are active and entertaining but not meant to be with shy or "frilly" fish.
Well the plan is to have maybe a 30 gallon or so heavily planted tank with a group of 5-6 rosey barbs. Then add some bottom dwellers, probably loaches, and then who knows. I like to keep my tanks limited in the types of fish in them. I like larger groups best, as long as they are active. Other tank mates and any more info is much appriciated.
