My oscar reacts to me walking into the room and can apparently differentiate between me and other people, but when I look through the side out the front of the tank(or vice-versa), all I see is the contents of the tank reflected back. Is it the angle I'm looking out at or his eyes or what? I don't get it.

I would think that they see the whole room. If you look at a tank with no background you can see right through it. The reflection comes from the angle you are looking at it.

Yup, fish can see the whole room.

So if I shave my head and rinse it with cold water and put on my swim goggles and stick my head in the tank I should experience the same thing?

I agree. I'm waiting anxiously for the pics.

hmmm...interesting. I would think that while they might have a whole view of the room they are in, their sight might be slightly worse off than ours. I mean, in the wild they dont need crisp vision as many times fish aren't in "clear" water. Actually, some fish have very poor vision, and it varies depending on which species we are talking about, unlike humans which are almost always born with the same eye sight.

...So maybe they can see the room, but it's blurry.
