I planted my 75gal last weekend, and things are growing splendidly, even the algae. This stuff has formed a coccoon around a clump of Moneywort in about 24 hours. The only algae in the tank is on the plants. None is forming on the glass or gravel.

I've tried pulling it off, and it's really got a grip on the plant. What can I do to get rid of this nasty looking stuff?

I've never seen this in my tank before. Did I bring it home with my plants?

Here are the parameters & the like:

Water temp: 80F
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: < 0.3
Nitrate: 20 ppm
PH: 7.5
KH: 3.5
GH: 13
Lights on 12 hours
120 watts flourescent over 75 gallons

Yes, in that short a period of time, you probably imported the algae.
Pick yourself up 1/2 dozen Otos and an SAE(make sure it's a 'true'
SAE, not Chinese) and they will take care of the algae for you.
Soon it will be necessary to start dosing N(once it comes down),K, P and Traces. With your wattage you'll only have to dose lightly, but a balance will be required.
