Anyone else use this type of filteration? I recently change to these about two months ago. Seemed to work great and are easy to clean. No more tearing down HOB's or multible cannisters. On my 90g I have two hydro-sponge V with two rena 400 air pumps, one for each and one Eheim 2217 sponged up for mechanical filtration. On my 125 I have the same setup as the 90g. My water parameters are excellent. For awhile I though this was the latest and greatest in filtration over the last couple of years. Come to find out my LFS has been using homemade sponges with power heads for the last 15yrs. The only difference he says is that the sponge filters on the market today look much better than his. I tend to agree.

I keep a large sponge filter running in my barebottom Goldfish tank and another in the sump of the reef tank. I need them from time to time for quarantine tanks and like to keep them populated with biobugs this way.
