I have a question about the behavior of my rasboras. Sometimes a pair of them, one quite a bit larger than the other, will go side by side and wiggle their bodies back and forth very quickly, then stay still for a little while.

Sometimes they even bump each other, they are moving so quickly.

What the heck is this? Are they fighting, spawning, or just being weird?

They are healthy, and show no signs of disease. The glowlight tetras and cories in the tank are fine also, water parameters are fine.

Just curious why they would do this. Also, are the female rasboras bigger than the males?

I had some that did the same thing. They were in my opinion courting eachother because a few days later, they spawned.

That's interesting, Lukara.

I just read something on a website that said they thought it was two males competing for a female, but mine looked like a male/female pair. One was considerably larger than the other, with a less defined triangle.

We'll see what happens; they were almost aggressive with each other which is pretty unusual for these fish, I would think.

My rasboras did that when they were spawning. My two male scissortails do something similar, but there is a difference....they're more....aggressive. More like striking than rubbing.
