I got this in on a piece of rock, looks like little purple palm tree's or something. I got a frag one day and when I put the frag in it's spot there were two of these growing on the side of the rock left behind. I kind of ignorantly let them grow because I was so curious if they would thrive and what they were.. Good news is they are confined to this frag stone and they are really small, I had to put macro on to get this picture and put the rock real close to the glass.

They are called Clove Polyps. Can be a pest sometimes. I really like the blue ones but they spread and spread and spread and impossible to remove once they do.

This is a 300G tank, every bare spot of rock has been completely covered in blue clove polyps. I think it looks cool, owner of the tank now hates them.

Will they attack other corals? or do they just over grow?

They will mostly just overgrow other corals. SPS and LPS corals can hold their own against them but things like zoanthids don't stand much of a chance.

LPS and SPS don't do very well in my tank, I can only have a couple pieces in the right places.. I mainly grow zoo's I have around 6 different types..Guess the cloves gotta goes.

I would keep and see how they do in YOUR tank before remvoing as not all tanks will have such overgrowth.
Some may have difficulty keeping this specific Sp of Clavularia as per each specific tank's conditions, not just water but their neighboring corals as well (tankmates).
I personally will never toss a piece of coral once acquired. I will try to find the ways to accomodate all. If overgrown, start selling/trading off the small rocks with Clavularia back to lfs.

I think you still have some time before deciding. Locate the piece of rock with Clavularia away from rest of the rocks.

Yea it is on it's own though, I had it near the zoo's when I didn't know better and they never had any "chemical warfare" and they were not growing super fast so I am wondering if I ended up with a less aggressive specimen and perhaps you are right, I've had them for a long time now atleast 8 months and there was two of them and now probably 30.
