Hi all i whant sum oppions for the stand i want to build. the stand will hold a 125 Gallon salt and 1-55 oscar tank and a second 55 for a sump for the 125.the 4 corner post will be made out of 4x4 the runners will be 2x4 if they will hold the 125 but i can support them real well. the bottom of the 55 fresh tank wil be 8 inches from the top of the 125, think this will be enough room. I know that i will need a step stool for the 55 thats not a problem it will have a fluvel 303 on it. the lights for both tanks will be built into the stand with switches on the side as will it be wired for plugins. eveyrthing will be inclosed their will be a inclosed cabnet on both sides of the 55 so i was thinking about making the bottom of the cabnet so they were hinged so they could be open to get to the 125 more {not sure on this idea yet}. Any ideas on this would be very welcomed, They whole unit will be 7 feet high and 7 feet long by 2.5 feet wide.

Thanks CrazyJ :)

do you already ahve the 125 set up, if not, you might want a lot more room above it

reason being, you will be putting large pieces of live rock in there (I presume) and you'll also be doing more maintenance on it, and ALSO, won't you need more room abover that 125 for your lighting needs?

Been There. Done That. Big Mistake.

Please don't mix salt and fresh on the same stand since a leak or a spill can cause the death of everything in both systems. Use the room for a larger saltwater sump and put the oscars elsewhere, in a larger tank than a 55 if possible.

More head room is always better.

Keep the back of the cabinet open. The vent fans you'd need for a completely enclosed cabinet would be big and noisy.
