View Full Version : Astraea or Trochus?

Bought a few more snails at the LFS the other day to slowly bring my clean-up crew up to working level, however, am unable to identify them.

Sorry, I don't have a way of getting pics up, but I can describe them to you. The girl at the LFS that I bought them from hardly knew what a snail was, so she was no help. I think they're either Trochus or Astraea. They're small, have the conical/pyramid shell, look a lot like both pics on this site:

The only thing different with mine is the "line" which spirals up the shell is much more defined on my snails than in pics at the above site, and the cone is a bit more compact. Sorry, I know it isn't much to go by, but any best guesses or info anyone has on their snails would be great. Thanks!
