Hey all.. I got tired of the bored of the normal dull color of gravel in my tank.. I ende dup buying some more colorful fish.. didn't help much still was lacking alot of color.. I collect a huge lavarock for the tank. and with its caves it looks amazing.. I have some live plants that are brightly colored green that look well too (they have been in the tank for months though) I decided while cleaning out a rock collection to add some a handful of ammethist and WOWZas did that purple and the fact it reflects light sure mad emy tank look neat.. I also added a small amount of pyrite about half a handful of pebel sized rocks throught.. It looks Amazing too.. I decided to add a bit of clear rock crystal.. not to flashy but still neat look.. kinda looks like treasure.. anyways
Will the Pyrite being a metal cuase any issues? So far its been int he tank a few days with no problem.. my fish look wonderful and so does the tank !!!

I don't think it will cause problems, as it is often found in stream beds. Just keep an eye on your fish to make sure everything stays okay.

the ammethist will cause no problems, but i would advise against the pyrite, it will leach into the water, and most fish don't apprectiate heavy metals in their water.
