150gallon tank, 3 blind cave tetras, 7 head and tail light tetras, pleco, a few khoolie(sp lol) loaches, and a pair of id sharks, one is about a ft and the other is about 7 in.

the one thing im worried about is the puffer "chasing" one of the id sharks and having him flip out on him, then have him dart around and mess up his nose :\

i was planning on eventually setting up a tank for dwarf puffers but atm i have a huge snail problem in the tank, probably because of the id sharks eating messy...

You aren't worried about a 12 inch fish eating a 1 inch fish?

The dwarf puffers may nip and harrass the other fish--even the ID sharks. They are fearless little bullies. I'd try cleaning the tank more often and feeding less instead of adding a fish. Either way, there are many snail eaters that will be better suited for a larger tank than the dwarves.

I would get rid of the ID sharks, they get REALLY big. I saw one a local LFS that was over 2' in length. Eventually it's going to start eating your smaller fish.

Loaches are ardent snail eaters!

well first i feed every other day, and i clean the tank religiously weekly, its just that the sharks tend to be a bit messy.

nope, hes in with tetras that are about a inch, iv also never heard of a id shark eating any fish.

i got the fish about 5 years ago when i was newbish and listened to a lfs.

even though its been 5 years hes still growing and will soon be moved to a indoor pond.

and yeah i know there are better/larger snail eaters but dwarf puffers are so darn cute :P

what do you feed your id sharks?

If your ID sharks haven't eaten any fish yet, they eventually will. All large catfish are predatory they hunt at night so you may not notice the missing fish for awhile.

Loaches will do a much better job of cleaning out the snails, puffers may eat snails but a clown loach will do a faster, more efficient job.

Well the id sharks refuse to eat anything but algae chips and vegie chunks

iv tried shrimp pellets, krill, silversides... but they dont even investigate them.

iv honestly never heard of a id shark being refered to as predatory

I don't think they have a very big mouth, do they?
