I have a full grown synodontis eupterus living all by her lonesome in a 40 gallon breeder and i am looking for any and all suggestions of a possible tank mate or tankmates. Would like to put a BN pleco in with her and possibly a small cichlid or school of tetras, but would really like to know what you think?

they're moody dudes (dudette) in your case- so its a roll of dice if yours will be okay with another bottom dweller and 40b isn't big of a space for a bottom dweller who's such a hog for their spaces...

perhaps a nice school of dither fish would be great...

S. eupterus aren't social fish like nigriventris or the Malawi species. You can keep a group of them in a sufficiently large tank, but not a 40 gallon. A BN should be alright, so should a smaller SA cichlid and a group of fair-size tetras. Black tetras are probably the toughest species.

Yea I know all about her moods (I've had her going on 5 years now). She used to be in my 125 community tank. When she was little she was cool to all other fish, but as the years went by and she grew, her territory grew and her patience with the other fish grew thin. Within the past couple months she has killed 2 fish, but I've always really liked her alot so instead of getting rid of her, I bought and set up a 40 gallon breeder for her. She has been in her new home for about 2 months now and is doing really well (i put her favorite couple pieces of driftwood in with her to make her feel comfortable). It's not so much that she is lonely but I think the tank looks lonely with just her in it.
