(didn't get much luck with this in the DIY forum, thought I'd repost here. Hope that isn't taboo).
First post here. What a wonderful place. Tried to do all my reading so I wouldn't duplicate any commentary.
Recently got a 180 gal truvu plexi, 4 years used (new to me!). Decided to go big after all the advice on this board. Wife is ready to kill me, but I just told her sometimes in life you have to "go big or go home."
So, the tank is in pretty good shape. But I was thinking, as long as the thing is empty and dry, maybe it's worth considering doing the seals. The seams seem fine to me, though fuzzy all the way around, see the picture at the bottom of this page:

1) Do those seams look fine? I haven't had an acrylic before, but certainly these are a lot better than the glass tanks I used to have.
2) Should I go over all the seams? A thread a while back gave me this info, which looks right up my alley:
"Silicon will not solidly adhere to plexiglass or acrylic. It may stop a tiny leak, but not very effectively. You can easily peel silicon from acrylic. In any case you need to seal a leak from the inside, and that means an empty tank. The best way to seal the leak is to use strips of square acrylic bonded to the inside edge where the bottom and side sections meet. You can do all the seams this way, and make them stronger and leakproof."
Just wanted a gut check, see if anyone either thinks my seams don't look so hot, or if they think this method doesn't cut it.
Thanks in advance.
Chris
