Looks like they're getting ready to play house at the very least. You'll know when they're really ready and about to start if the female starts presenting her belly to the male by bending her body in a "U" shape. He'll also start hanging out in the cave and then trying to herd her in.

He's been staying in the cave alot today and the female has been digging a bit. The female is 2" and the male is 2.5", are they big enough to breed?

sorry for the delayed response. If he's spending more time in the cave then he's getting ready to start and the digging is also a good sign. You'll know you have eggs if they start fanning them. I generally keep a terra cotta pot with a hole in the side of it for mine to breed in. It makes a perfect breeding space for them, and you'll know that there are eggs when you see the kribs with their heads poked out of the holes, wiggling their fins and just staying there.
