Some of you have seen my posts with my wild Heckel Discus herd. I've been trying to get them to eat from my hand for a year now. I'd chill out for a month or two from time to time, but I kept at it. Tonight- two of them ate their evening bloodworms from my hand.
Wild's tend to be a lot more skiddish than domestic strains- Heckels even more so. It has long been said that getting wild Discus to eat from your hand will calm them down- and aid in getting them to breed. They've chilled out a lot- but you can tell they still have bad memories of being snatched from the river. And when I moved the tank accross the room recently- They Freaked!
:irked: Heckels don't like nets!:wall:
They are certainly domesticating now! It'd be a real coup to get them to spawn. But at least they've calmed down enough to take food from the hand.....
