First I am new to this forum. I have been keeping fish for a few months and I have gotten very knowledgeable through my other forum www.tropicalfishkeeping.com. So anyway. I have been planning on doing a tank makeover. I have a 125 gl dual overflow tank that is 1/5 planted give or take. I was thinking of doing flourite Black sand http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/245726/i/2/product.web. I also have been dying to get a fire eel. I know they do best in sand as they dig themselves into the substrate. I am also aware that they have a tendency to uproot plants. I am fine with that as most of my plants can be either floating or planted. My current tank mates are 5 bala sharks that get along with even the smallest of fish, 2 neon tetras and 8 adult guppies with a plethora of babies. The small fish were bought to be bred for food for the Balas and Black Ghost Knife fish. (my bgks have since past due to inexperience and a massive ammonia spike that I know how to avoid)

Anyone with any experience with fire eels please chime in with your know how.

I have a very strong hood on my tank the only place he/she would be able to get to is the overflows. lots of guppy fry in there to snack on while he/she is waiting to be rescued lol
