I hope I'm not exceeding my thread limit for the day, but one more time, need some advice. My pleco is feed, my tetras are good, and I just added my latest addition, my two German Blue Rams. So this is what I got right now...

29 gal

7 Pristella Tetras
4 Albino Cories
2 Blue Rams
1 Bristlenose Pleco

Live Plants consisting of Moneywort, Cambomba, Dward Chain Tennelius, Amazon Sword, Banana plants, Unknown sword, and Red Temple.

Medium sized peice of driftwood / large cave / clay pot on side

PH 7.5;

My first question is, am I overstocked???

Second, if not, I would like to add another, I geuss "Centerpeice" fish you would call it. Or a pair if there is room. Someting larger and colorful that would really stand out... Any ideas? The first thing that came to mind is Angelfish, but most would say they would get too large for a 29. Any and all suggestions welcome. And thanks for not getting anoyed with my constant posting....

IMHO you are borderline, I would call what you have a well stocked tank, any significant additions I feel would put you at overstocked. You currently aren't overstocked but could be with a couple more fish especially something that gets as big as an angel. Many people would stock this tank heavier, but I personally think its about right as is. I generally take the surface are and divide by 6 to give me a rule to go buy. I never exceede this rule . You could get away with a few more inches of fish, but it will require excellent maintenance, and add some risk. The cory's and the bristlenose don't require the surface area that other fish might but still contribute to the bio-load. If you add any go for something small.

I think you have a little more room but like dave said you are getting fairly well stocked. I think a nice little centerpiece fish for you would be a dwarf gourami. They are very colourful and don't get that big.

Good suggestion, Dwarf gourami's are cool fish IMO and won't get to big

Something that likes the top part of the tank anyways.... your bottom is fairly well stocked. I've tried gouramis and they've never worked for me but i think they are pretty you can get some really neat ones like pearl gouramis (elegant looking) :). One would be nice.

I have an angel in my 20 "tall" that is doing fine.... they grow fairly slowly. Angels are nice too... although mine fights with my ram quite a bit.

I knew I was getting close to full, and I like my tank the way it is, but I would like one more to make it complete. I've kept dwarf Gourami's before and loved them. Are there any type of Angelfish that doesn't get as big as others?

No, all angelfish grow fast and should be adult size (~4'') in around 6 months if you by them a little larger than a nickel. Then they will continue to grow, some getting around 6'' (but not all). The only other fish that comes to mind would be a betta, they look larger than they really are because of their fins.

if you want something top dwelling look at the hatchet fish, they are neat little fish.

Would a betta be OK with the fish I mentioned above?

And I'm getting that the concensus is NO on the Angel. I was thinking that, it's just one of those things where you have to hear someone tell you...

He should be all right, just keep an eye on things to make sure everything's fine. You have no other labyrinth fish or similiar for him to mistake as bettas so I would think it would be okay.

If you REALLY want an angel you might be able to do it. It would be pretty crowded and the angel might look weird in such a small tank. What are the dimensions of your 29?

I'm at work (sshhh don't tell anyone), so I don't know exact measurements... I do remember that it is 18 inches high. At least I think I remember.

I have a 10 gallon that I was going to set up at work. I was considering moving some/all of the tetras in there when it was done. They would be a good, active, and fairly low maintance choice for a work tank...

I'm pretty sure it's 18Hx12x36.

If it is that size, the tank is actually a 35 gallon. Probably closer to 30 gallons of actual water volume, but that's ok.

I'll give you a list of what I have in a tank that size with a good Hang on back filter:

3 - Australian Rainbowfish
3 - Yoyo Loaches
4 - Cardinal Tetras
5 - Harlequin Rasboras
2 - Velvet Swordtails
1 - Angelfish

Yesterday my powder blue dwarf gourami died  :shake: but he was doing well in there as well.

The guy I bought it from said 29, but I thought it might be bigger. Is it OK to have 1 angel or should they be put in pairs? I measured it and I was right, it is 36x12X18H. I have a good filter and live plants, so could I go with the 2?

If I'm thinking right an adult angelfish may be likely to eat most of the smaller tetra breeds. Not sure the size on yours, but if you move them all to your work tank won't be a problem. I sorta think that for my tastes a single adult angelfish would be enough in a tank of about 30 gallons.
