does anyone know if firemouths and severums can go together

As a general rule yes, Severums get along with most fish and seem to hld their own well with a lot of the somewhat aggressive cichlids. Firemouths really aren't what I call a highly aggressive fish although they have been known to cause problems. The two should get along if they have room. I personally would get severums that are a little bigger than the firemouths to start with. the firemouths will grow to about 7",The severums will grow to 9", Just make sure you have a big enough tank for them.
