Supermarket food for angelfish?

I keep a can around for use in a pinch if I run out of the Good Stuff, but wouldn't use it as a day-in, day-out staple. They (and the von rio tetras) swarm up and eat it with great enthusiasm, lthough god knows angels are such pigs they'll eat pretty much anything. :)

like most fish they will eat veggies and even some fruits. other then that thre really isnt much you can get at a supermarket. go over to kensfish.com and pick up several different foods.

for a rare treat i used to give my angels teensy bits of shrimp from those frozen plastic rings you can buy at the grocery store. hand feeding my large veil silver ghost was really neat.

you could make home made gel foods with some of the fish sold at grocery stores. tilapia and basa are two i can think of off the top of my head.

as Mg mentioned, veggies and fruits can be fed. peas, green beans, zucchini - mixing these into a homemade food would work.

on a side note, my paratilapia polleni (black diamond cichlid) loves banana! lol.

Angelfish are naturally carnivores, and their favourite food is other fish.

So... buy a fillet of raw fish and keep it in the freezer. Slice of bite size slivers of it, defrost, and give them that as a treat.

Many other fish do like some fresh veges, plecos for example, but angels are more into the meatier foods.

I don't supplement my offerings as I do give them variety. Maybe once a month or so I will give my Oscars some cocktail shrimp or pieces of hotdogs as a treat.

So you are looking for a fish safe food from the supermarket isle? Interesting!
I am not sure if this will work but I've seen people feed fish and ducks at a local pond with crushed doggy kibble.

dog food is full of all the wrong kinds of stuff for fish! it is too high in fat, contains mammal meat compounds, and i would think has a fair bit of salt in it as well, at least too much for fish.
