Anyone know a plan to make a surge bucket or some water flow device that is cheap and suitable for a 30g tank. And also effective? Thanx in advance:)
Check out http://www.aquatouch.com/surge_b.htm
If memory serves, I think slip built a few of these - I'm sure he'll be by soon to offer some advice. :)

yea i had a couple... they worked pretty well too.
you want to use 2" to 1" couplers, not 2" to 3/4"
You loose alot of flow reducing it to 3/4" and it sort of ruins the effect.
Im not sure how your thirty is setup, but if you have a sump, you better be sure it can support the surge.
Told ya he'd show up ;)
Hey slip - when you say you 'had a couple', does that mean do don't use them anymore? If so, why? Gonna use 'em on your 90?

Well they worked fine, my problem was getting a good pump to run them. The tank was setup in my bedroom and the water pump i was using was so loud i couldnt sleep....
my other problem was finding a place to put them. I had them just sitting on shelves, but 5 gallons is alot of weight for a shelf...
I dont have any space above the new 90 in my basement (in fact i cant even make a hood that opens upwards) so I had to scrap the surge buckets.
When i setup another tank I will be sure to include them. There really is no other way to create water movement like that.
Oh and BTW, if i setup the surges again i wont bother with half that crap aquatouch does. Just get a toilet flush valve and a ball float. You could find some plastic ties with either one. Just zip tie the ball to the flapper, and set it for what size surge you want.
