I was at the lfs selling my baby swords and was checking out their bettas. I like this store's bettas, they only have about 10 at a time and they each get their own 1 gal or half gal bowl. While this is not ideal I like it far better than the 50 lemonade cups of bettas, not only do they feel better, they also look better and you can pick them out easier. They weren't a great batch today but I did spot one swiming round and around in his bowl and flaring and swiming some more, and blowing the occasional bubble so I took him home. Since I moved him into my 5 gal he just keeps swimming, not at all bothered by the filter flow, and he swims around with the white clouds who are a little weired out by him. When I turned out the light he was settling in on a leaf to sleep. I have -never- seen a betta this active before. I don't have much experiance with them but I've always considered them to by kind of boring because they just kind of float there.

Most Bettas just sit there because they are kept in too small of a tank! When I put my Betta (long time ago) in a 10g, he was in heaven. It was like having a different fish, he swam around so much. :D

Mine's in a 2.5 and i never see him stop swimming. He's always going back and forth flaring at his reflection and trying to get at the kribs in the nearest tank. They are wonderfully active fish as long as they have room. :)
