Hello....
Is there such thing as an algae cycle on a relatively new tank setup? I have a 90 gallon reef tank which was setup about 4 months ago. These are the specs...
90 g,
about 90 lbs live rock
4 inch aragonite sand bed
red sea berlin classic hangon skimmer with mag pump
1 400 w mh
2 110 w vho attinic
ro water
eheim filter running carbon
2 802 power heads
0 ammonia
0 nitrites
unnoticible nitrates...
Anyway, I've been getting little algae breaks, and I was told that it happens on a newly established tank. Now however, I'm getting some red slime algae, and I just hate the stuff. I did a 30% waterchange last week, but the algae's still there..
It didn't overtake the tank, but it is covering some of the rocks. Should I just wait it out, or is there something I can do to get rid of it?
Besides the red algae, I have some green hard algae which is stuck to the glass near the bottom of the tank...
Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated.
