Well, I've found myself in a pickle it seems... a very bad one :(.

My discus have come down with somethings (after the introduction of a new discus... big mistake that was :( ). First, it was finrot and what I thought was bacterial body slime... but after two days of treatment with a larger than package recommend dose I began to wonder. I began to wonder more when my discus start flicking off things and I noticed a few tiny white dots on them. Next consideration was oodinium (velvet), so I did as much research on it and found that you can usually kill off oodidium with high temperatures (similiarly to ich) within a day or two... well, we're on day 3 with temps in the 88-90F range with no improvement and only the fish appearing/acting worse except for the newest who is acting and looking perfectly fine. So now I'm thinking it's something else :shake: .

There is a white, dusty looking film on the body and fins, they remain very dark in color and hide in the corner. They still come out and eat like pigs but then go back to the way they were. I have restarted treatment with QuikCure after removing as much kanacyn as possible and it doesn't seem to be helping much either.

Nitrite have also spiked ( .25ppm) and I am doing daily 50% water changes to combat that as well.

I am starting to think I am going to lose my original discus :sad , does any one have any idea what's going on?

Well, they were even worse this morning... so out of desperation I netted them and let drops of diluted betadine drip down their side. Tonight their behavior has improved while their appearence has remained the same since I put betadine on them... here's hoping they pull through :( .
