are any of the fish shrimp safe? just wondering.
msjinkzd
08-07-2011, 1:26 PM
Shrimp safe is sort of a misnomer. Many of hte fish I carry are the same size or smaller than adult shrimp, but any fish will eat a baby shrimp if it will fit in its mouth. A lot of what I carry is not physically capable of eating anything other than the smallest newborn shrimp :)
Most of the microdevario, boraras, hyphessobrycon, and breviboras are good choices as well as otos and ancistrus.

Ooh, scleromystax barbatus! I really really want! I hope you can find a fitting price for them so I can buy a group soon :D Are indian zebras coming in shortly?
Also, q about c. cantonensis and c. breviata: Are c. breviata more tolerant of a wider range of pH levels than c. cantonensis?

List them an aquabid, rare fish usually bring a good price on auctions.

I have some zebras for you, dahlink. The barbatus will be $10 each. The breviata are MUCH more tolerant to wider ranges of pH. They are breeding in my tap water.

yea, but then I would have to sell on aquabid, lol

Can the snails live and reproduce with Mawali Mbuna? I got two from the lfs and one is zooming around, idk where the other went.
I'd like to get 1ea of the red spot & zebra. It's the only tank with hard water and a low water level.
msjinkzd
08-12-2011, 6:50 PM
They don't reproduce in freshwater, but would likely do well with Mbuna as they will enjoy the hard water.

Oh! I am interested in 6 otos. Now that it's cooled down where I live, I'm not as concerned with the heat.

hey Rachel, do you have any dwarf apistos coming in?
msjinkzd
08-15-2011, 7:55 AM
nah. Unless I took preorders, apistos are just not a good idea as they tend to pick each other off in qt.

msjinkzd
08-17-2011, 7:55 PM
I won't know their final pricing until I get them in and see what freight cost me, generally its $2.50-3 each. They are a great addition to a shrimp tank. Nanus are as well :)

any chance of you selling the stophden gobies and maybe getting in some zebra plecos? are you going to be coming to akron club to talk soon?
msjinkzd
08-21-2011, 10:22 AM
I cannot "get" zebra plecos other than from personal breeders. As for the stiphodons, I will be keepign them for now :)
As for the club, I haven't been approached about speaking in Akron :)
What temperature do you got the Scleromystax barbatus in??? Just looked them up online and it says they prefer cooler temps but if you got them acclimated to a higher temp then they may work out for me. I've been wanting Corys but they stay so small but these guys would grow up to work just perfectly. There to small to sex huh.
I feel ya on the Apisto's. Wish mine hadn't killed of all the others. Now to find a female again. Maybe it will fair better now that I've upgraded my apisto to my bigger tank.
msjinkzd
08-22-2011, 8:07 AM
They are in about 75 degrees. They are WAY too small to sex at this point as they are only around 1" or so. :)
Oh ok thats what I kinda figured. Was looking at them in some pictures and boy do they turn into some nice looking fish.

so how much would about 6 pygmy corys be shipped priority to 38011 and do you hold orders for people?
msjinkzd

I really don't love priority for fish, but priority would be $9. I don't hold orders :)

oh ok when will they be out? (hopefully a couple of weeks) also i have questions.
what temp are you keeping them at? is room temp ok? around 72
what are you feeding them? are shrimp pellets ok?
are these sensitive? how long do i need to wait to introduce them to an established tank?
so for 6 pygmys itd be around 26-27 dollars?
msjinkzd
08-25-2011, 8:38 AM
oh ok when will they be out? (hopefully a couple of weeks) also i have questions.
If no losses, then next week. If even one dies, it gets extended another week for observation. So far, not a SINGLE loss which is crazy wiht cories as its really typical to lose at least a few upon import.
what temp are you keeping them at? is room temp ok? around 72
The cories? They are at about 75.
what are you feeding them? are shrimp pellets ok?
I am feeding them frozen cyclops and catfish pellets.
are these sensitive? how long do i need to wait to introduce them to an established tank?
so for 6 pygmys itd be around 26-27 dollars?
No more sensitive than any other fish. As long as your water is stable they should do fine.
$26-27 if I ship priority, which i do NOT like to do for teeny young fish.

Hi Rachel -- Will you have any cardinal tetras available anytime soon? I still have a small group from you two years ago and I would love to add to my group when you have them available again, if you ever do. I hope you and the family are safe and well. :) Please let me know. Thank you.

I'm looking for about 10-15. :) I've gotten so many compliments about them and they have been a constant reminder of the superior quality that you never fail to deliver. I can wait for as long as it takes so don't feel rushed or pressured. Thanks for all your help. Have a great day.
