View Full Version : Riccia = Fish Food?
I just added some Riccia to my tank and I'm quite impressed with its appearance. I tied it to a piece of driftwood with fishing line. Unfortunately, most of my fish are impressed with the FLAVOR more than the looks. The Riccia has been in my tank for about half an hour now and I've watched my Florida Flag Fish, Zebra Loaches, and Gold Rams eat it up as if it were candy. I didn't expect this to happen, does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

None of my fish ever actually *ate* it. When it was on driftwood (and to a lesser extent, the rocks) they wuold pick at it, looking for food scraps and algae and whatnot, but never ate it. All they accomplished was pulling it out from the nets or fishling line. Is that maybe what yours are doing, or are they actually eating it?
Flag fish love to pick through for algae and like filamentous algae, iirc, maybe they mistake it for algae? lol
As for the rams...don't they sometimes eat plants anyway?(insert disclaimer about nothing next to nothing about rams here: _____)

Maybe they are just picking at it, but they sure are being thorough about it.
