I am planning out a tank I'll be stting up in a few months, I definately want to get some rams and several different Tetra's angelfish etc. Here is my problem. I have seen a lot of people say that a ram prefers water temps of 80* Neons like their water between 72-78, so I cancelled out the neon Idea and put cardinals in their place. I then searched every species profile and made a list of tetra's that liked higher temps. BUT when I found profiles on Rams incuding the one on this site it lists them as needing water temp between 72-78 The same as a neon and lower than the range for cardinals. Please tell me your opinions, on whether or not I can keep rams in a tank at 75-76 degrees, and keep neons with them.

I have seen several sites as well stating that rams can live in 75F. While it is true, it is not what is best for the fish. Much like discus, higher temperatures help rams immune systems.

Glowlight tetras are also another good option to neons.

yeah, my rams were in 78F but weren't as colorful and flashy as when I raised the temp (slowly) to 82...

Rams like the water a bit hotter. I keep mine at 80*. Try cardinals i have them in with my ram and it makes a very nice tank.
