IMHO, if you are going to even bother with the carbo plus system, you might as well go pressurized. Carbo plus only works in moderately hard - hard water (no problem for ppl who live in Edmonton  ). So it should technically work fine in our tanks. However, their method of delivery of CO2 is far from great. Plus you have all of that equipment in the tank. The replacement plates aren't cheap neither. If you are going to spend that much money on a carbo plus system, you might as well spend a little more on a pressurized system. Its a bit more expensive in the get up and go, but over a period of time, it is much more cost effective. I currently refill my CO2 tanks at oxy-pro. The last time I had a refill, it costed me exactly $9.10. This was after 4 months of straight usage (with a bubbling rate of 1-2 bubbles/sec).

The LFS I go to most often used to use pressurized systems in their planted tanks. Then they remodeled their store and now all of their planted tanks use the Carbo-plus system. I've discussed the system with the LFS guy and he is very pleased with it. But I decided to go pressurized because I didn't want to put the big carbo plus thing in my relatively small tank.

I used the carbo plus. It worked good in my 30 gallon. Not that great in my 55 gallon. But then i found out you need to have high kh for it to work well. at least a kh of 5. i am selling it on ebay now. Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2084400682&ssPageName=ADME:B:LC:US:1)

Well i'll just have to look into it some more thanks for your input. I am going to set it up in a 120 gal tank so i just might go gas. I just have to find the iso valve a little cheaper than $150.00 the regulator i can get for under 100 and the tank (shhhh.... i'll get from work...:D )

You could always just make your own: http://www.nfis.com/~hartland/aqua/co2.htm

The only problem with that one is that it is made for a 10 - 30 gal tank I have a 120 gal. I went out last night and bought a regulater($78.00 cdn and a Solenoid Valve ($69.00 cnd) all I need now is the difuser for the co2 and the bottle( easy to get at the welding supply store) and I am set up for under $200.00 cdn.

Guess I could have made one similar to this, but I didn't have tinker around time.. Here's the link to it... :
