My 29gal has been up and running for a month or so now and things seem to be going smoothly so far. Haven't lost a fish yet except for two small danios which the filter decided to eat.

Anyway, the water in the tank was continually cloudy and nothing would clear it up, including large water changes. As someone else here on the board described it, the water looked like it had millions of tiny little bubbles in it. Supposedly this is a bacterial bloom from everything I've read. Anyway, my logic was that if the particles were large enough to see, the filter should be able to remove them.... I have an AC500 which should be more than adequate for the tank as well.

Anyway, today I went and picked up some things and re-arranged the media in the AC500. Now the bottom layer is a layer of filter floss about an inch thick compressed below the coarse sponge that comes with the AC500. On top of the sponge in the 1" of water or so that is left, I poured in a box of Proquatics ceramic media (tube kinda things). Within 2 hours, the water is now crystal clear, I'm assuming due to the floss pulling out the tiny particles.

I'll post up a pic later of the setup if anyone is interested.
