I've gone through the cycling and have had my starter fish nfor about 5 weeks.

What kind of fish can i put in here? Second, whats a good way to keep alge(?) off the air line hose? I'm looking for some colorful fish and schooling fish (combined would be fnice) and something kinda large

my tank is 55 gall. as well.

i used 13 danios to start the tank, and still have the 13 in there.

Any help is thanked

It really depends on what you want. Of course some fish arent suitable for a tank that size or with the zebras. You could give us some suggestions and them we can try and lead you to a good mix of fish you would like.

to help with the alge get some real plants, hornwort is good for a low light plant.for the tank you could go with some livebearers, guppy's or platy's look good.then mabye a few cory's for clean up.they've got a funny personality, and won't bother anyone.then mabye a gourami, i have a couple of female opaline, and they look sharp and are very active.you could also do a school of tetras.
copy's need groups of atleast 3, and tetra's like 6-10.
that would get you a fairly active, colorful tank, with fry to keep you busy.lol

Just to ask, but are you keeping all of the danios? If you do it makes a difference in what we can suggest. Also what sort of filtration set up do you have?

Should be plenty of filtration. My general thought of a 55g tank goes along these lines. Two small schools (6-8) of fish. Generally tetra species or harlequin raspborra. About 5-8 corys. I have peppered, but I think everyone has a preference. After that its about what you want to use to highlight your tank. For me it is a pair (M/F) of german rams. Whatever you use it shouldn't be able to eat your schoolers. Another option would be to have a guppy tank. Just make sure you have more females than males.
