What kinda shrimp do ya got and why? Do you enjoy them? What do they do for the most part? If I got java moss and a fern would they be content?

Amanos and ghost shrimp. The amanos spend most of their time cleaning plants, though they will gorge on bloodworms if they can get them. A group of them is more likely to be seen than a loner, and they can get out of a tank.

Ghost shrimp spend more time picking through the gravel (and fleeing the puffers). They are in the tank to help clean up and be a snack for the puffers, but are cheap and good workers until eaten.

A few dozen amano shrimp in my 70gallon. I can't see them most of time, they usually hide in the plants and under some of the slate rock I have in the tank... until nightfall, thats when they generally come out. I have them in my tank mainly as an algae cleanup crew.

Java moss and fern will work pretty good for shrimp.. the moss will provide cover for the shrimp in case something decides to come along and try to take a bit out of it.

I have a pretty nice Wood Shrimp. He's a good cleaner.

Amano (many dozens), Cherry Red (developing colony), Neocaradina sp (~dozen), Macrobrachium species (singleton, supposed to be M. rosenbergii but I'm doubtful).

The first three are workers, algae cleaners and scavengers, the last is a display critter (but still young/new). Inverts fascinate me in any case. All my planted tanks w/o predators have shrimp. Visibility depends on tankmates, if any, and the particular shrimp type.

I have amano, and some cherry shrimp(althought i haven't seen them since i added them). I love my amano shrimp, everytime i go to the LFS i get more. THat is why i also go the cherry shrimp. It tough ti liked my amanos so why not try somethign different.

When all the fish in my 15g are gone i'm thinking about making it just a shrimp tank because when i watch the tank now the shrimp are the most exciting part(it also has rams and cardinals). THey are always cleaning and moving about.

ghost shrimp, because they're 10/$1 here. i have them in my turtle tank for food (when they can catch them) and cleaning the bottom (turtles are so messy!), and i also have them in a 10g with some gourami fry. oh, i also feed them to my catfish as a treat once in awhile.

1 Blue Mole Shrimp to look at (wish I had another) and 3 Amano shrimp to help clean the tank.

Ghost shrimp in my community tank for cleaning. I can usually find one if I spend 5 min looking in the plants. I added 20 of them 2 weeks ago.

who are more amusing Ghost or Amano's? Also How much bigger are Amanos?

Not sure there's much difference in the entertainment value...And they are actually fairly close in size, as well. The Amano's have more color than the ghost shrimp, and are more effective against some algaes, but cost a bit more ($2/each versus $1/10).

I really like the cherry shrimp, but have seen them only rarely around here, and I don't have a tank that I would trust the inhabitants 100%--except maybe the cherry barbs at work.
