crap ICH again!!

my small silver dollar has ICH. Beginning stages, i raised the temp to 82.

I have a plant tank with a pleco, should I add salt.
He is the smallest in the tank, and the only one that has it.
should i pull him out and treat him.

why is it that only my small fish get ich (knocking on wood)

If one fish has it, they all will, just not in clinical levels. The entire tank will need treatment. Bump the temp up to at least 86 to be effective.

The reason only the smallest fish get the full blown case is that they get the brunt of the aggression from the larger fish, so are more stressed. High stress levels = more likely to get sick.

what about adding salt with the plants and my pleco.

I've salted my planted 40 that has bristlenose and kuhlis--up to about 1.008 specific gravity, with no ill effects. Maintain the temp and salt for at least 4 weeks to ensure all the parasites are killed.

You may want to consider upgrading the tank, or setting up another and splitting those fish up. You have a lot of fish in that tank. While it may not be a problem (other than more frequent disease issues) with juveniles, some of those fish will get big and outgrow the tank, and become very aggressive to their tankmates. In a small tank, the abused have no place to escape the aggressor.

add salt...2tbs/5 gallons always works for me with temp increase to 84 degrees...never bothered plecos...not sure of plants??
