Looking for some suggestions for a pleco that eats green algae but stays relatively small. I've heard that Bristlenose Plecos do a good job.

I would have to agree with that suggestion.

I put a small BN Pleco in my daughter's 40 gal. and it had that tank clean in two days. Have had him for a year and a half and he's still relatively small.

They do a great job on algae and should stay around 5" or so.

Peckoltia or dwarf panaques do the same, and may be a bit smaller. Some BN species make it to 6" and are pretty hefty.

if you could find Zonancistrus pulcher they would work well. dwarf panaques would work also but they do require wood as part of their diet and some can be quite shy.
