Well first of all I have to say is that they brought with them an ick breakout in the tank. Almost all of them have little white dots on them now. Other than that (which I know is serious) they aren't eating. I had medicated for the past two nights with half a dose of Rid-Ich so we will see how that goes. My main concern is I have had fish with ick before and usually they still eat. These guys wont mess with flake or the brine shrimp I just bought. That really scares me cause I have NEVER seen a fish deny live food before unless they were about to die. Do you think it's the ick or should I try something else. Anyone who has successfully kept these before please feel free to answer or any other input on these fish. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the Rummy Nose. I've kept them and although they lived through an outbread of ich in the tank I don't remember them being the affected fish.

It sounds as if they are new fish for you? Maybe they underwent a shock moving to your tank or before you bought them at the fish store. Have you checked your water for the usual suspects (nitrite, nitrate, ph, temp, etc.)? Other than treating the ich and making sure the water is good I'm no help.

So we have ick. The stress form ick will sometimes stop your fish from eating. Since it’s tetras I would get something for body fungus. I bet you will see one with it in the next few days. I have never had ick but I have had body fungus a few times witch will stop my tetras from eating until treated.

I treat with Maracu 2 tabs for 10 days. I know the box says a week but I don’t trust it. I have found if I have a mini cycle, they will get something and not eat. I never know what it is but the Maracu 2 tabs work every time. This has happened to me 3 times in the last 4 years.

I used to keep neons and cardnils, they were mixed in the tank at the pet shop I bought them at. The owner didn't want to try to seperate them and they were the same price so I just bought a bunch of both. They never did well when medicating tank for ich. I ended up with ich when I was a kid in my tanks numerous times when buying the walmart fish.

If you read the info with the ich stuff you have I bet it has something about what fish you can’t treat with it. All Tetras will not tolerate being treated with ich meds. If they are treated I have read many times that you need to use a ½ dose and it seams to work.

I have never had ich and have only treated my tanks with Maracu 2 tabs. You should ask some people who have had ich and have had Tetras. I was thinking that a Q-tank or a hospital tank is in need. This way you can more something out of your tank and treat with ones need the treatment. I would not put your fish back together till you hit the 2 week mark with no ich in either tank. I still think you will go through a body fungus cycle form the stress with your Tetras soon. I forget how long the ich will live in the water. You might want to raise the temp of your tank to speed the ich through its life cycle.

I believe ich can be present for 2 weeks without a host. If he has some fish with ich and others that don't you can bet its already infested the tank and quaranting them shouldn't be necessary. I think the standard thing to do would be to raise the tank temperature up to the low 80s and add aquarium salts to the water. I'm a little vague on the details since I haven't had the misfortune of ich as of yet.

the entire tank got zapped. I was young and stupid didn't know about quarentine tanks. I have one right now with a single cory cat in it, and have not been using it as I get my fish all from one place and he will not sell new arrivals for a few days
and tells me if I get all my fish from him he will warrent my entire tank.
