My mistake...
I closely examined my new fish I purchased today, an Orange-Tail Damsel, a Rock Blenny, and some Green Chromis. Everyone looked fine.
However...
In the Green Chromis tank, there were about a billion of the little guys. Overall they looked good, but kind of hard to seperate and say, "I want THAT one."
So I said get me three of them. Well, since my other fish were so d**n good looking, I was distracted and didn't give the chromis more than a precursory inspection until I got them home.
Well, they're little, so they still have some growing to do. But two of the three look gimpy! Don't mean to sound mean (no pun intended), but I was tempted to take them back and demand some better looking ones! Only, wouldn't be worth the drive and trouble. They eat okay, look and act healthy, other than one of them missing half of his back fin, and another looking like he got in a fight and got a few scales around his top/middle ripped off. I feel kind of bad for them, and am kicking myself for not being more careful, but I'll keep a close eye on them and keep the water conditions good.
My question though is this; do fish regrow fins? I know they regrow scales, but it'd be nice for the one gimp if he had all his fins to swim with.
