raising brine shrimp and snails

Question: Is it possible to raise snails and brine shrimp in the same tank? I have a one gal with an undergravel filter in which I would like to do this if possible. I'd like the snails for my Pakistani loaches (which are all fine for anyone who remembers my previous post) and the brine shrimp for some other fish.

Would normal pond snails survive/reproduce in the fairly low salinity water? Is the tank an okay size for this to work?
