125 gallon tank and they work very well.. Question? Do any of you rinse these filters and use them over? I have a powerful sprayer that cleans the poop and debris right out of them, leaves them looking clean and new. Think this is bad practice? I have four other tanks of various sizes I do this to, and have had no bad results, yet. I do buy new filters and change them out, occassionally. Any input!!

You're spraying the blue-floss cartridges, not the biowheels, right? If yes, that's fine. As long as the cartridge hold together, keep cleaning it. It will save you lots of $$ in the long run.

I have them...

once a month replacement?? BAH!! Whatever :P

I rinse and reuse my filters for atleast 2 months. As long as the fibers hold together, they are fine. If new carbon is needed, the extra media containers work great ;)

I rinse and reuse all the time.
One other thing to save some cash if you want, you can buy bulk packs of filter material.Just cut the old used up blue material off of the plastic "frame".Then cut out a piece of the new material and use rubber bands to hold it to the plastic "frame".If you want to use carbon just add it to your extra media baskets.

Since his Emperor filters have biowheels, rinsing in tank water isn't really necessary... the biofilter is preserved on the biowheels (which shouldn't require rinsing at all) and the filter cartridges, which provide mechanical filtration, can be cleaned tap water since he doesn't have to worry about preserving the bacteria on them.

Even better, get some Aquaclear 500 sponges, cut them to length for the Emp filter well, and use them instead of those Emp cartridges. You not only get superior mechanical filtration, but it lasts forever...
