All water readings check out okay. I've been doing regular water changes. The water is not cloudy at all and I do not overfeed. But it looks, well, hazy. From a front view it looks fine but if you look through from one side to the other, it looks sort of hazy. Not cloudy or dirty. Just hazy. It's 10 gallons. I can't figure out why. It's not really noticable unless you come direct from the fish store or pet store and their tanks are crystal clear.

If this is a new setup, it's likely an imbalance in the normal bacteria that are in the tank--not the nitrifiers, but other bacteria. Give it a few days, and it should clear up on it's own. Check to make sure it's bacterial by looking at the water in a white cup--if there's a green tint, it's algal, and may require treatment.

yeah, i had algae on one of my fw tanks. It makes the tank look hazy like that, especially if you're looking at it from the back and sides.

When I set up my 10g about a year ago, I was a complete rookie and probably did just about everything wrong. Once I started learning about algea and bacteria, proper feeding and tank cycling and test kits and ooof! My tank slowly improved. I had the same kind of cloudiness you mention, it cleared up gradually and my water is now crystal clear. But yeah, I'm assuming that your tank is fairly new, like a few months old.

It may seem like a no brainer, but also try cleaning the glass on your aquarium when you do water changes. Of course if you miss a streak right down the middle of your glass you spend the next week noticing that more than your fish.
