I have a 29 gallon tank with artificial plants and 11 Cardinal tetras. I wanted to get some shrimp, but I have no idea what species to get, how many, or what they eat? I also forgot to mention I have a common pleco about four inches long. Can anyone recommend a shrimp species for me?

Definately get ghost shrimp. Around here they're 10 for a buck, so it's kind of a no brainer. I used to get them as a snack for my blue botia.

Anyone ever try pearl shrimp? (Macrobrachium banjarae) I just bought a couple and am curious as to any special information that anyone might have. I tried google. No dice.

I'd definately agree with the thread. I had a numeric peak of about 40 ghost shrimp at one point (most were larval), but most of them died because I was ignorant. They are USUALLY cheap (Wal-Mart sells them for $0.29, but LFS sells them for $0.79). These are on my top five aquatic species. (Freshwater angelfish, koi, ghost shrimp, Oregon newt and ADF)
