Hi all, hoping to get some advice before I inadvertently kill some corals.
I have a NEW 75 gal setup which is filtered by a fluval 404. There is some base rock and I will be adding live rock as soon as the parameters stabilize.
The setup came with two 40 watt fluorescent bulbs. Is there ANY corals that can be kept under these conditions? I was told by a LFS that mushrooms should do well.
I would like to keep a few shrimp, hermits and some fish with a couple of mushroom corals if possible.

Once you get a little more experience, sun coral (tubastrea) is beautiful, relatively hardy, and doesn't require light. It does need regular feedings, though, which means it will require a good bit of attention.

thanks for the reply guys. since posting i have orderd a protein skimmer to add to the tank. I also have a spare ten gallon tank, can it be used as a sump under the stand? what do i put in it besides the heater and skimmer(if that)?

It would make a perfect sump. My brother grows macro algae (seaweed) in his sump and it helps eat up the nitrates quite well. Some people also put live rock in their sumps.

One coral people rarely think of for low light is a bubble coral. They may do OK with your light and are more likely to keep the green color under the low light.
