taking sand from the ocean

hello! before i go back to germany, im visiting myrtle beach, i hear that there are clams that you can catch in the sand on the beach, if i got a jug of the sand with clams in it and water and put everything in my salt water tank would they live? is that ok to do?

Probably not because the sand would be really contaminated and you would have to check with state laws but there is a high possiblitly it is illegal to collect anything from there without a permit. Hope this helps.

Also, the clams and other organisms you'd collect would be cold/cool water species, and unlikely to survive in a tropical tank for very long.
