driftwood ?

Hello every1,

I just got some driftwood yesterday. I never had any driftwood before so Im not sure as to what to do before I place them into my tank. I have them soaking in a bucket of water and have scrubbed them with a scrub brush. Is there anything else I need to do before placing them in my tank?????

Was this sold as being aquarium safe? If so, nope, you can put it in. If it floats, weight it down with a large rock while it soaks.

If it wasn't sold as aquarium safe, you'll want to determine what kind of wood it is, to determine if it will leach anything other than tannins into your tank.

I bought the driftwood from Foster & Smith online, so I guess that it's aquarium safe.

Yep. You're good to go. The wood probably will leach tannins, giving your water a tea-stain look, but this isn't harmful, and can be easily removed with some fresh carbon.
