hello, i'm in the process of ordering the wood for my tank. I'll be using russian plywood, with a birch finish.. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It has a really nice look.

now, I wanna use this wood both for structural and estetics... Will 3/4" thick russian plywood be strong enough to support a 48" x 18" x 24" tank? or should I double it up at 1 1/2"???

Thanks. :)

I would use pine 2x4's to make a frame (top, bottom, and legs), and then cover the 2x4's with the plywood. This will support lots more weight than any plywood. IMO, plywood is only strong enough for very short runs--I used it to build a stand for my 10, but wouldn't trust it on any stretch over 2 foot. It just flexes too much, IMO/E.
