Well I'm not sure how many I got, but the False Perculas hatched tonight. I'd say there are atleast 100, but it could very well be much more. I had to do it by flashlight, maybe I'll be able to get a better count tomorrow.

The maroon clown eggs look like they will hatch soon. They have darkened up nicely and you can see distinct eye spots on them. I suspect in the next 2 or 3 days, maybe less!

Well so far no deaths with the Percula Fry, but it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. I suspect atleast a 50% casualty on the baby fry, just because this is our first attempt at trying to do this, but maybe we'll be lucky, who knows.

The Maroon eggs are looking really good. I hope they don't hatch until tomorrow. I have to pick my wife up tonight at the Airport so I'm not going to be around after about 8 o'clock, and my father doesn't come back home until tomorrow afternoon from my parents vacation, and I am getting sick of driving across town to check on things multiple times a day.

Seems like all the local fish stores are very interested in taking some of the babies off my hands when they are old enough, the avg. going rate appears to be about 5 bucks for the Perculas and maybe 1 or 2 more for the Maroons, so atleast this whole process could yeild some extra money.

Now I need to figure out how to breed Dwarf Angelfish, perhaps Flames! That I think we could make some money doing. Lets see what happens in the next year...

Boy, what a great time. You spent all this time waiting for them to do something, and now you're up to your ears.

I checked, and nesting is somewhat seasonal. They breed year round, but you get the most nests from May to August.

The Maroons hatched last night. We have significantly less Maroons than we do False Percs, but we've still got some. May father seems to think there are around 250 to 300 Percs, and probably around 50 to 100 Maroons, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they pull through metamorphisis. The next 2 weeks I'll be crossing my fingers and holding my breath.

We ordered a Microscope of Friday, so we can analyze the rotifers. At this point we can only guess that we are actually feeding the fish decent food, since we can't see the Rotifers. So we thought it was a good investement to have a Microscope on hand. 300 bucks! not cheap, but it will magnify up to 1600x, which I guess is pretty good (I don't know much about scopes, but my father has used them a lot in the past). But I do think it will be really handy to have one around, and quite interesting to get a look at this stuff up close. If only I could hook my camera up to it! Now that would be sweet.

Well keep your fingers crossed for us.

Great news! Are you going to be selling these little jewels locally only? I think that it would be pretty cool if you could offer them to your buddies here on ac central. ;) I'll make a plug for you since you haven't yet.

p.m. me if you're interested

We haven't spent much time thinking about what we are going to do when they are ready to sell, which will be 6 to 8 months from now minimum.

The goal would be to find a wholesaler that can buy them hundreds at a time, as we want to make this a nice little side business, and have a continuous supply of babies ready to sell each month.

But ya I have no problems selling them to folks on AC if they are interested.
