I need to transport my fish for the summer. The fish I need to move are just 2 damsels and 1 maroon clown. I am planning on taking enough water to fill the temporary tank. My question is; can I take my rocks and sand with me? What is the best thing to do?

Yes, you can take everything if done right. I move whole tank set ups from time to time. Tell us a little more. Tank sizes; time for the trip.etc.. Both of those fish move easily and the LR and LS can be moved in buckets with lids and water from the tank if keep warm.

I have a 55 gallon right now and I am using a 29 for temporary use. None of the fish are much more than an inch long. I have some large rubbermaid containers i was planning on using for transportation. I was going to put the fish in one with about 20 gallons of water and an aireator, and put the sand and remaining water in another container. The trip will not take more than a few hours, I am sure it will stay plenty warm in my car.

Any advice for moving a 120 gallon tank with dead rock and sand with 2 damsels 1 angel and a clown on a 45 minute trip?

All rock and sand can be moved in buckets. Fish in bags with tank water and air. Keep fish bags in cooler with other bags so temp stays as constant as possible. People with strong (good) Backs to move tank. Fish should be Ok for a couple hours. I've use ziplock gallon bags in emergencies. Double bag.
