I read your recent posts about eheims and I had a question for you.

I'd decided on an eheim Professionel II, the self-priming one, but now don't have the money due to the need to establish another tank. But I was thinking about your rationale of using the same system for all your tanks and that you'd have only one set of spare parts, etc. My question is this: are all the eheim parts interchangeable throughout the entire product line? I'm now thinking I may go with an eheim cannister. Would the extra fittings that I'd acquire be good for all the eheim models?

TIA

Some spares are exact model only (most of the impellers), others are the entire line (suction cups for intake and return tubes, etc.), and some are broad - a couple of parts to cover the whole line (the clips that fit between the suction cups and the hard plastic tubes). The loose media is whole-line. Fitted sponges are exact model mainly.

But the Pro II 2026 and 2028 are almost entirely interchangeable, the basic difference is canister height and media volume.

On the Eheim site, on the Accessories page, there is a spreadsheet at the bottom detailing the parts - you will see those where the same part # applies to multiple models.
