I have a 90 gallon tank, and for lighting, I'll be using a 400W MH, and 2 110W VHO's. The tank I have has a brace made out of black plastic, right in the middle of it, for extra support. Since the MH will be placed in the middle, it'll creat a shodow. Do you see a problem with getting rid of the black plastic, and replacing it with a piece of Plexiglass? ?

Nope. I know of several people who have done this. Leave a bit of a tab on the sides, and then you can easily use plexiglass and plastic screws to attach the plexiglass to those tabs. On the sides, it shouldn't cast much shadow, and will be much stronger than using glue.

Use glass instead of plexi. Will hold up over time and actually will most likely be cheaper. Glass shop should be able to cut you a piece that size for $10-$15.

It's an acrylic tank? oops. Either way, I would glue to the tank itself. Make the brace out of whatever the tank is made of. You will always have the best luck glueing similiar materials to each other. Dont know about acrylic, but for glass I would use 3/16" or 1/4" glass for the brace.
