before the bacteria in the tank go kaput? It's been a week or so in our empty eclipse system and we're thinking of putting some fish in there...no fancy guppies, though :mad:.
 
After 24 hours without food the bacteria starts to die off quite quickly. If you add new fish make sure to do a water change first and test for ammonia after a couple of days.
 
thanks for the info Cearbhaill and TKOS. I 'fed' the bacteria yesterday, well what's left of them after a week. I'll test the ammonia levels before I put any fish in the tank.
 
And test soon afterwards as well. And of course introduce fish slowly, a few at a time, like in a fishy cycle.
