I have 2 hawaiin dusters. Both have been great for over a month. For the last 2-3 days one isn't emerging from it's shell.

n e ideas?

Have you been target feeding them? Anything picking on one? My pair don't always come out at the same time, and a hermit crab used to sometimes try to hide in the cranny where one tube is--making that worm stay in, even though the other one came out.

no target feeding. Dropping some stuff live stuff that's better than live DT's, and some dead plankton in the tank daily. I haven't noticed anything picking on it.

thx 4 the Q's

Have you noticed any peices of the "feather" in the tank? It may have also popped its head and is re generating another one. They wont come out while they are doing this.

I've seen the smaller rock dusters do that. Interesting process. I'll bet that's what the duster's up to. You must see alot of those down there.

Anyone know why a duster pops it's top? Is it a molting process? Is it stress-related?

Usually stress related, from what I've seen and read. I generally see them do it after a move or a major change.

I moved the rocks around a few days b4 the tunnel retreat. He's in between some of those rocks, I better be more careful next time.

is there any change in current where you placed them... that could make one go back in too.
